Embracing the Magic of February Light in Tromsø

Scroll down to content

The light in Tromsø last weekend was truly special. It hasn’t been long since the sun emerged after the polar night, around January 21st. Now, in February, on clear days, people gather to witness the sun and the light.

I only had my iPhone with me, my faithful companion, ready to capture the essence of the beautiful February light as it unfolded before me.

In the blog article “The changing light makes the photographic magic,” I issued a challenge to the reader to go out and observe the changing light. And it was a challenge I embraced myself this time.

Even though it was midday, there was a golden glow over the sky and the water. This had to be captured on camera. When the light is as magical as it can be in February, there are golden moments to capture great landscape pictures that we can later print and hang on our walls.

Winter is beautiful when the sun returns after the polar night, and the days become longer and brighter. Perhaps we not only discover photographs but also fragments of our own humanity as we seek the light and feel how the light makes us come alive.

I have used Snapseed to post-process the image. And used the filter Accentua.

The original picture.

I like to make the hue of the image warmer.

If you want to learn about post-processing I highly recommend iPhone Photo Academy.
