Spring is approaching, or here in Moss, I believe it has already arrived. Today, I created a podcast episode where I take you on a walk just below where I live. So the text below is a transcription of the podcast episode.

You can listen to the podcast episode here: Discover Joy through Mindful Photography.

Meeting Spring with Observation and a Mobile Camera

Walking along the coastline, listening to the sound of the waves and the birdsong, is like taking a journey into nature’s own symphony. Today, during this coastal walk, it’s not just about getting fresh air or admiring the view, but also about photographing and exploring the surroundings with my mobile camera, my faithful companion.

As I stride down towards the beach, I focus on what surrounds me. Spring, with its endless vitality, embraces me. It’s as if everything is coming to life, including myself. I feel it in the breeze playing with my hair, in the sound of the waves lapping, and in the birdsong filling the air.

Birdsong with delightful trills

The birdsong is particularly enticing, and I let my senses soak in every tone. I stop to listen, curious about every melodious chirp. Even though I can’t identify all the birds, there’s something magical about their song, something that deeply fascinates me.

The walk brings me to a tree where a bird sits and sings, and I feel like I’m in another world, a world of pure music. I try to capture the moment with my mobile phone. Documenting these moments is important to me; it’s like preserving a small piece of nature’s soul.

Photographing catkins with a mobile

I stop to photograph the trees with their buds and catkins hanging down. It’s as if nature itself is painting a living picture for me, and I seize the moment with my mobile phone, trying to capture every detail.

It’s about being present and bringing your whole self

But it’s not just about taking pictures; it’s also about being present, being present in the moment and in one’s own body. It’s about being aware of one’s surroundings, both outer and inner. This is what Mindful Photography is about, being mindful of oneself, nature, and photography.

There’s a kind of magic that happens when we are fully present at the moment when we are open to everything nature has to offer us. And it’s precisely then that the photographic treasures open up to us, and we can receive them with open hands.

So I end my walk with a smile, grateful for all the beautiful moments I’ve been allowed to experience, and ready to return another day to explore more of nature’s beauty.
