I have had my new Olympus Pen F some days now, and I am delighted with this camera. It has several settings which made it simple to create images in the camera as you wish. You can play with it, making pictures you had never thought you could do. That´s fun. For me, I love the black and white settings especially when I do street photography. I usually walk into the town in my lunchtime or on my way home, then the sun and the light is sharp, so I think black and white is best to use in that conditions. I like to shoot from my hip and have fun. I do not even look in the ocular or on the screen. So I come back with many pictures that I have to delete, but sometimes also images that are something. Photos that make something with me, where I can sense something when I look at it.
I have also captured flowers and a dragonfly. I am impressed with the clarity and sharpness. But it is one thing I think is a little bit stupid, and that is that I have to go into the menu to steer the shooting point in AF-S single point. Maybe I still haven´t found how I can avoid this. I have to read a little bit more about that.
My lense is the Olympus 17mm 1:1.8 it came with the kit. I am satisfied with it. It´s excellent. I thought I had to buy a new lens, but now I think I instead will be created with this lens a month or two. But I think the need for a zoom lens and a portrait/macro lens will come or in all honesty, it is there already. Although this lens takes good portraits, I have to go near because it is a wide angle lens. The crop factor on this camera is 2. So a 17mm lens is, in reality, a 34 mm lens.
This was some thoughts about my experience with Olympus PEN F and the 17mm lens so far. More will come, because this is a camera I can use to everything I like to capture. One of the most positive experience is the weight. It is just 572 g with the lens and the silent shutter is a great gift. And it is an equipment that doesn´t look like a paparazzi, and that is a big advantage in the street genre.
