Happy new year to all my followers and to you that not follow yet!

To me, photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place… I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.” – Elliott Erwitt

Now I sit at the cabin in Indre Østfold and think back on the year that has passed. I think it has been an exciting and content-rich year. The most exciting was January 2023 when my wife and I went to Australia. We were gone for a month, and everything we saw and experienced are wonderful memories to look back on.

We have also moved this year from Nittedal to Moss. It took both time and effort. There was an incredible amount to clean. What was difficult was getting rid of things that we had no use for, but that we just had sitting around. What should we keep and what should we give away or throw away.

When we finally moved, it was good to get into a new house. And it has been and still is exciting to explore new areas around Moss. Now we are completely Østfoldinger. And I think that will be perfectly fine.

View from Mossesundet where I live now

Here is a picture from Mossundet, where we live now. I walk this path every day, and what fascinates me is the light and how the light changes all the time. The landscape changes with the light and temperature. And right now it’s fantastic with all the snow that has come.

The photography club See beyond

In 2022 I started an online photography club with focus on therapeutic photography. Yet it’s in Norwegian. But I want to tell you about it. It’s not a lot of members, but we have 17 members that I am so proud of. They make See beyond going on.

In 2024 I hope that See beyond will grow!

In 2024, we have planned to have conversation groups. These will be phototherapy sessions. In these meetings, we will seriously combine photography and therapy. The meetings take place on Zoom every second Tuesday and are open to everyone who is a member of See beyond. Taking pictures as a starting point for a conversation is a good starting point for processing different thoughts and feelings.

In the club we also have meetings where we discuss our photography work. Then we talk about gear, composition, and technical stuff.

So if you are interested to join or read more about See beyond, you can find the site here: https://www.seutover.no/

My photography in 2024?

It’s hard to do a business beside a permanent job, and my photography work has not been serious enough. But now in 2024, I want to priority my photographic work and improve my photography.

I think I already have started when I moved to the sea. The landscape by Oslo fjord is beautiful. And it’s amazing to follow the seasons by the fjord. Therefore I think I don’t need to go far away to get good landscape shoots.

My photo gear this year

Well, I have my Nikon DSLR and my Olympus PEN F, but mostly I use my iPhone 13 Pro.

Why?

Because it takes incredible pictures, is in my pocket when I need it, and is always with me. But sometimes I get back to the Olympus, I don’t now why, but I love that camera.

But, it’s iPhone that is my most common camera. My everyday gear, that supports my everyday photography. And the iPhone get better and better. It’s also a lot of apps that you can get more manual control, but I prefer to youse Phones native camera.

To learn more about iPhone when I first started to use it seriously I went on a course. I bought the course from iPhone Photo Academy.

I have learned so much about iPhone and how I use it to get seriously good pictures. I love this courses, so I highly recommend it.

Now I can’t wait using my iPhone to capture beautiful images.
