From the Road to the Trail: A Weekend in Trondheim

Yesterday I found myself in Trondheim after we drove from Oslo, covering about 59 Norwegian “mil” from Moss on Thursday. The journey was long, but even with the hours in the car, there were many small moments that made it special. We were listening to the radio, which made the time go fast as we talked about the program. Reaching Alvdal, we stopped for coffee and dinner. The rest of the way, we listened to music from our favorite playlist. Rolling into the city, I felt that familiar excitement of returning to our apartment, opening the door, and being greeted by the quiet comfort of home. We both love visiting our apartment in Trondheim and hiking in the surrounding area. And Trondheim, both in town and around, offers many photographic opportunities. The town is beautiful with the old houses, and the nature is marvelous.

Here, the weather is a little unsteady, shifting from sun to rain to snow this morning. Despite that, yesterday, my partner and I went on a hike called “Ladestien,” a 7.5 km-long route along the sea. Our walk took us from Østmarkneset to Sponhuset, a path you can find in the UT.no app. It was a windy but beautiful trip.

As we walked, we both looked for photomotives. Now that spring has arrived, and the leaves are turning green, there is so much beautiful scenery along the path. We often have to stop and look around, as there’s so much calling for a photograph. Although we’d love to capture or film the entire path, that would be too much work. Here are some pictures from the hike.

The leaves are being green.
