Reflective moments by the water

These past days have been beautiful, with mist draped gently over the water. The light, too, has been present—softly filtering through the haze. When I pause in stillness and gaze across the landscape, a deep sense of peace settles within me. Autumn is often a blaze of yellows, oranges, and reds, but the mist brings the opposite: almost no color at all. Yet a luminous, gentle light shines through, transforming the scene with quiet magic. It´s time for reflective moments by the water.

Slowing down

Linger for a moment and let the world unfold. Light shifts, mist drifts, and the landscape is quietly transformed before your eyes. Stand motionless and truly see. Draw a deep breath—feel earth beneath your feet, the cool air filling your lungs. Allow the quiet to settle within. Only then, raise your camera to create images that echo your own inner calm, mirroring the serenity of your surroundings. Here, you belong—not just as an observer, but as a participant in the scene.

Seeing clearly

Notice the ever-shifting reflections in the water—the way the surface mirrors the sky, the trees, and your own quiet gaze. On calm days, the water is glassy and serene; when the wind stirs, ripples break the image into fragments. Watching the reflections shift on the water, I can’t help but think of how life changes, too. Some days are calm and quiet, others full of movement and noise. My own mood seems to echo what I see—the water stirs when the wind picks up, just as I’m shaped by what happens around me. Still, through all the changes, the trees stand firm, their shapes steady no matter what. That’s a relief: even when everything else moves, some things hold steady. Taking a photo of these scenes feels like saving a bit of that balance—a reminder that both change and steadiness belong together.

Sharing the quiet with the swans

Yesterday evening, I sat on the beach, gazing over the sea, and nearly meditated. It was so calm and beautiful outside. The swans on the other side of the bay came slowly swimming toward me. The light shifted from cool to golden as they came nearer, and the sun was going down. I just had to make some pictures of them. It was very calming to sit there, studying the swans, the light, and the ripples on the sea.

Go out into nature

I love to do what I have written about in this article. Being out in nature gives me a special feeling of calm. And eventually stress turns into rest. I can carry that sense of calm into everything else I do. So I encourage you to do the same. Go out into nature near you, let your eyes gaze over the landscape, feel your body on the ground, breathe, and take in the beauty as it is. And don’t forget to take pictures!
