The stairs up to Ulrikken

Yesterday I and my daughter walked 1333 steps up to the top of Ulrikken in Bergen Norway. It’s a little bit steep. But the view is uniq when you reach the top.

Bergen seen from the top of Ulrikken.

The view is marvellous when the weather is good like it was today.

Here I have reached the last step and is near the top.
Me and my daughter on the top, with Bergen behind us.
Here you see all the steps and how steep it is.
At the top you also can walk further to Vidden, and its sheep’s grassing in the field.
It’s a restaurant on the top, where you can buy food, cakes, coffee, warm chockolate.

If you don’t want to go to the top you can take the cable car, but I recommend you to walk. The cable car is expensive. But it’s about which condition you are in. It’s a great experience with the cable car also.

So if you are going to visit Norway and Bergen, I will recommend you this trip.

  1. I would not complain if they inserted a few switchbacks on the climb, just so one could actually walk a few paces now and then to stretch the legs, particularly if you expected a hike and not a stepping exercise. Nice views, nice people all around you, and fun to get some hot chocolate at the top.
