Stavanger surroundings- a lot of beautiful places to visit!
The last week we have been a little bit round in the southwest if Norway. We went by plane from Oslo to Stavanger at Wednesday. For the moment I am sitting at the ferry from Stavanger to Bergen. And now I want to tell you about our experiences in Stavanger surroundings.

We rented two cars because we were 9 people travelling. The people we traveled with were from Iowa in the USA. They wanted to go to the Ritland crater in Hjelmeland municipality. Some of their relatives drove to USA from this place in the 1800 century.
We came almost into the crater, but it was too far to walk for the 80 year old gays.
But the landscape we saw were stunning.

After we were in Ritland we went to the “Preikestolhytta” near by Lysefjorden and the famous Pulpit rock. https://ut.no/turforslag/1111875/preikestolen

Sola and Varhaug
Yesterday we went to Sola Beach. It is a beautiful place were you can walk barefoot in the sand, look over the ocean, go surfing or swimming.

Hå gamle prestegård

It’s an old place where the priest in this district used to live in the old days. Now it is a museum and a cafeteria.
From Hå to Varhaug
From Hå, we went to Varhaug and the old cemetery. It is a small church there with a beautiful altar in.

The place is very impressive, laying on a little hill with the sky and the earth surrounding. You have to take a trip to express it yourself.
The old lighthouse
We went also to the lighthouse nearby.

The rest of the day we spent with family and friends in the area.
I will remember this day as a playful, wonderful and beautiful day. And I will never forget our two travel companions sitting back in our rented car singing old country songs. We had a really fun and good time.
