Sometimes the best places are found by accident 🌾
It wasn’t planned — just one of those small detours life offers when you’re on your way somewhere else. And yet, it became a moment worth remembering.
A Small Stop at Elvestad 🚗☕️
On our way to the cabin, we always pass a little place called Elvestad. It’s not much more than a crossroads – an old municipal building that now seems to serve another purpose (I’m not quite sure what), a barn, a few houses, and a petrol station. But that petrol station has been given a new life.
One day we decided to stop there. Not for fuel — we drive an electric car — but simply because we needed a restroom. And what a pleasant surprise it turned out to be! The whole station has been restored in a vintage style, full of charm and nostalgia.
The air smells of freshly made waffles and coffee. The walls are decorated with newspaper clippings from the 1950s, and the restroom floor is covered in cool black-and-white tiles that continue outside. A beautiful old cash register stands by the entrance, and the waffle iron hums softly in the background — just like in the old days.
So, if you ever find yourself passing through Elvestad, it’s definitely worth a stop. Grab a cup of coffee, a bit of chocolate, maybe a hot dog — or, best of all, a freshly baked waffle.
Here are a few pictures from the station 📸
