Beautiful Kjerringøy

Sitting at Bodø Airport, waiting to fly home again, I find myself reflecting on five fabulous days in Northern Norway.

Kjerringøy is a small island near Bodø, where life moves at a different pace. We stayed in a red, weathered cabin that has stood there since my wife Tone’s grandmother’s time. Tone spent her childhood summers here, and it’s easy to see why she holds this place so close to her heart.

The cabin is surrounded by wild grass and blooming flowers, and not far away lies a quiet beach where we often have the whole shoreline to ourselves. This time, we even dared a swim in the cold, clear sea, followed by long hours reading in the sand with the sun on our faces.

Of course, I also brought my camera — and spent many peaceful hours capturing the light, the landscape, and those quiet moments that mean so much.

Here are some glimpses from our days on Kjerringøy.

A heartfelt thank you to my wife Tone, and to this magical place, for reminding me of the gift it is to live close to nature — far from the rush of the world. It’s nourishment for both body and soul.
